Self Storage 101: Things to Know

Since you alone control access to your storage unit, it’s important to note which items should never be kept in a concealed space.

  1. What doesn’t Belong in Storage

U•STORE•IT allows you to keep your belongings all in one place that only you have access to. Since you alone control access to your storage unit, it’s important to note which items should never be kept in a concealed space. Some key red flags include:

  • Live animals
  • Perishable items
  • Explosives
  • Flammable liquids and fuels

2. Know Your Facility’s Business Hours

Our gate hours are posted at each facility. Please complete your loading and unloading within those posted hours. If you are unsure of your facility’s operating hours, call or email them in advance to ensure your moving day runs smoothly.

3. How Your Unit Payments Work

Your rent is due monthly as per your contract date. That means your payments may not necessarily be limited to the first day of the month. Please be aware of when your contract starts and ends.

4. Keep us in the Loop

Life happens! If you change addresses or phone numbers but want to keep your storage unit, please notify the facility managers so they can make sure your contact information is up-to-date. If you do need to move out of your unit, we would ask that you please notify facility managers 15 days prior to your move-out date.
